Ellen Morris Bishop is a geologist, photographer, and writer. She holds a PhD in geology from Oregon State University. Her research focuses on the older terranes of the Northwest. Her award-winning books include In Search of Ancient Oregon: A Geological and Ecological History, and her images have been widely used by Northwest conservation organizations, including The Nature Conservancy, Oregon Natural Desert Association, and Sierra Club. She has been teaching geology to college, high school, elementary school, and adult groups pretty much since the last ice sheets melted, and is always really excited about tracking and interrogating wild rocks, as well as wild landscapes.
