TERRANES LLC

Exploring the landscapes of an active planet.
The real voyage of discovery
is not in
seeking new places
but in
having new eyes.

WORKSHOPS:

TERRANES LLC  workshops blend science and art to provide insightful explorations of geologic landscapes both remote and familiar. Workshops are led by Ellen Morris Bishop and other knowledgeable professionals.

Our specialty: the Pacific Northwest:

We know and love the incredibly diverse geology and ecosystems of the Pacific Northwest better than any other place. From the rugged shoreline and the craggy coastal ranges, to the snow-capped Cascades, to desert playas and fault-block, sharp-faced peaks, the flood-carved channels of Ice Age Floods, and granitic peaks of the Wallowas and North Cascades, this is a magnificent and inspiring place.

Building Community Connections:

To connect with the local community, workshops usually include local students, teachers, or residents as an intern. Many Terranes workshops also include  a community service project or donation to local charity (food bank, school, etc.
)

Our Learning Program:

When you enroll in a Terranes workshop, your learning begins long before the group gathers, and continues long after you head home. You'll recieve some pre-trip photo exercises to try out, and a pre-trip reading packet about the landscape you'll be engaging with. After the workshop, followup exercises can hep you hone your skills.  And most workshops include a book of participants' photographs and observation so you can share your experiences long after the journey.

Terranes offers custom workshops and trips for your group as well as scheduled workshops.
Please visit the Custom Trips and Lectures page to inquire about these options.  Click here for that page.
